The song I have chosen falls within the pop genre (Popular music). Pop music usually appeals to a general audience rather than to a particular audience or ideology. Pop music is intended to encourage dancing or uses dance orientated beats and rhythm and usually reflects existing trends. Below are some more examples of pop songs and their music videos.

  

About my chosen Artist

Rita Ora

Rita Ora is a 21 year old British singer-songwriter and actress. In 2012 she released her debut studio album 'Ora' which debuted at number one in the United Kingdom. She has three number one singles, these are "Hot right now", "How we do (Party)" and "R.I.P" which made Rita the first artist of 2012 to have three consecutive number one singles in the UK charts.

During 2011 Rita released videos of herself working on the debut album for people to get to know her and her music. In December 2011 DJ Fresh and Ora released the music video for hot right now, which is shown below, on you tube. The song was later released on 12th February 2012 and reached number 1 on the UK singles chart.

Rita Ora spoke about the sound and concept of the album and said 'It definitely has pop in it, but you can hear influences of jazz in there, you can hear influences of Monica and Aaliyah and then you can hear Gwen Stefani'. She also said that the album has been influenced by her fathers record collection which in addition to reggae, includes artist such as Eric Clapton and B.B King. Rita's first Solo single 'R.I.P' featuring London rapper Tinie Tempah was released as her first UK single in May 2012. The video was directed b Emil Nava and was recorded in Hackney. The song became her first solo UK number 1 and second number one overall. Rita Ora has recently been a guest judge on the x factor for the auditions and has recently toured with Coldplay.

Ritas album, Ora debuted in the UK album charts at number one, selling 40,000 in its first week. Rita was Nominated for Best UK/Ireland act, Best new artist and Push artist at the 2012 MTV Eurpoe music awards.

I have chosen to use Rita Ora - How we do for my music video. How we do was written by Victoria Alexander, Kelly Sheehan and Bonnie Mckee. It is an up-tempo pop song and is tfour minutes and six seconds long. It is about being young and having fun. The genre of the song is Pop and it was released on the 20th March 2012.The song debuted at number one in th eUK charts. The music video shows Rita at a party with a lot of people in different costumes having fun. This song samples lyrics from Biggie Small's 1993 single 'Party and Bullshit'.

This song is quite similar to hit the lights, all about having fun and living in the moment. This song would look quite good with it edited to the beat.

I really like this upbeat song. It is about living in the moment, and having fun. So i think that it would be a fun video to create. I would include a lot of people having fun and also the artist performing. This song already has a music video but it isn't very well known.

This song would be good to have a party scene, maybe a group of people with different clips of them at a party and having fun. It could be a combination of narrative and performance.

This is one of my song options for my music video. I like the song because it is really upbeat and I could have some kind of narrative with it. I think I would have the video mainly performance based with some narrative and then a lot of people having fun and dancing around.
